Force on Force – “Red Dawn 2012” 08JAN2012

A Red Dawn game…
Just like the Wolverines would have liked it.

We used Force on Force (that is my buddy used the FoF hard-bound book for the vehicle stats and I ran the game with the Tomorrow War book – maybe a bit twisted at times). Wolverines took out the column with SMAWs after the Russian Armor took out the US QRF with cannonfire. Boiling down to an infantry fight – at least until the Hinds shows up.

AAR:
Russians:

T-82 (KO)
1 Squad Paras with BMP-3 (KO; 1 of 7 dead)
1 Squad Paras with BTR (1 dead; two wounded of 7; 3 indeterminate casualties); only surviving armored vehicle
2 Squads Paras with Truck (KO; 4 dead and two wounded of 15)
1 HQ fireteam with Jeep (5 good to go)

US:

1 Up-Armored HMMWV with Tow (KO)
1 Squad US Army Regulars with HMMWV pick-up (KO; crew bailed)
1 Squad US Army Regulars with AMTRAC (KO; 2 of 7 wounded)

1 Squad SWAT with 2 Police Cars and Suburban (9 of 15 dead)
1 Squad Patrolman (1 dead and 2 wounded of 7)

2 Squads Wolverines with SMAW (ATGM) (14 of 15 dead)
1 Squad Wolverines Snowmobilers (4 of 4 dead)

Outcome:

Russians held objective when game called, but US still in an up-hill fight. WOLVERINES!!!!

Nice. You’re still a master of winter games.

Red Dawn is one of the better themes for a modern game. It elegantly bypasses all the ethical issues and goes straight to blowing junk up. Looks fun.

Actually my buddies terrain and Minis (with exception of my scavengers and swat dudes). RD is a guiltless fantasy…..
